Shalonn Lawson

Winter Wonderland Committee Chair

Knowing me is to know, I’ve lived in Havre de Grace, Aberdeen area my entire life.
I am married approaching 32 years. We have a blended family consisting of 3 girls, 3 boys and 19 grandchildren.
My husband is a retired Deputy Chief of Police of Aberdeen, where he was employed for 27 years.I was employed as a bookkeeper for Western Auto in Aberdeen and Havre de Grace for ten years before we both retired and purchased Java by the Bay coffee shop in Havre de Grace. We were the proud owners for 15 years and sold the shop in Oct.2015. I went on to obtain my Real Estate license and have been a realtor with Integrity Real Estate for almost two years.
I have always loved Havre de Grace and remembered the fun decorations and painted store windows from my youth. I am a great fan of the holidays and realized due to budget restraints over the years that the decorating had for all practical purposes become none existent. One of the business groups downtown, with the assistance of Richard Tome, a business owner and former councilman tried to continue the tradition but when Richard moved away it fell short. So after many conversations with a friend about what could be done, I recruited some volunteers and formed the Winter Wonderland Committee. When we realized we needed a non-profit status or sponsor to have fundraisers we were sponsored by Havre de Grace Main Street, The Havre de Grace Chamber of Commerce and then the suggestion was made that Community Projects of Havre de Grace would be a perfect fit. We were very fortunate to be accepted into the organization and the rest is history.
